The doors are open, the flatbread is warm, and the House of Mediterranean is officially home. After a complete rebuild and reimagining, Nisi – House of Mediterranean is now open in the heart of Jungut Batu — and having eaten our way through the opening week, we can report: it was worth every day of the wait. Here is the full tour of Nusa Lembongan's newest (and coolest, in every sense) dining room.

First Impressions: A New House Entirely
Regulars of the old taverna will recognise the warmth and nothing else. The rebuild has given Nisi a whole new body — light, elegant, unmistakably Mediterranean — and the change you feel the moment you step in from the village heat: full air conditioning. Long lunches no longer come with a side of perspiration, dinner is comfortable at any hour, and the island suddenly has the perfect answer to its hottest afternoons.

Breakfast: Build It Your Way, From 7am
Nisi now opens with the sun. From 7am the fresh display is stacked for the build-your-own breakfast bowl — pick a base, three fruits and two crunch toppings, and watch the team assemble it in front of you. The à la carte side runs from the Breakfast Sandy (grilled haloumi, egg, greens and tomato relish in a toasted bun — add bacon, obviously) through Turkish eggs over garlic yoghurt with chilli butter, shakshuka baked in spiced tomato, eggs Benedict and a beautifully rolled three-egg omelette. Pair it with a Verde Vitality juice or a Golden Ginger Bliss smoothie and the morning is handled.
Lunch and Dinner: The Whole Mediterranean on One Menu
From 11am the kitchen opens the full atlas. Start where everyone starts: warm garlic flatbread, the trio of house-made dips with pita, prawn gambas sizzling in garlic and chilli, flaky spanakopita, sticky pork belly bites or the sleeper hit — seared baby octopus finished with lemon and herbs. The salad counter carries the build-your-own concept through the day (one base, four selections, one dressing), alongside a proper Greek salad and a burrata with cherry tomatoes and crispy bread.

Mains travel the whole sea: traditional moussaka in baked layers, chicken souvlaki wraps with tzatziki, spiced beef kefta skewers, pan-seared butter fish, a Valencia-honest paella with seafood, chicken and chorizo, pumpkin risotto for the vegetarians and a BBQ jackfruit burger that has already converted several committed carnivores. And then there is the Italian wing: pasta from slow-simmered rigatoni al forno to seared-scallop capesante linguini and a classic carbonara, plus a pizza list worth planning around — La Carne BBQ stacked with chorizo, ham, pancetta and chicken; Miele di Capra's goat cheese and honey; the smoked-salmon Nordica; a burrata pizza; and folded calzones for those who like their pizza with a lid.

The Drinks List: Spritzes, Super Smoothies and a Serious Cellar
Daylight hours belong to the fresh-pressed juices (Rosso Energía and Citrus Refresher are the early favourites), super smoothies, specialty coffee and a full matcha program — hot, iced, or strawberry-cream if you are feeling photogenic. Come evening, the cocktail list does the Mediterranean proud: Aperol and Limoncello spritzes, a Tickled Pink of pink gin, rosemary and strawberry, Tommy's margaritas and a proper Negroni, with virgin versions of the favourites for the non-drinkers. The wine list runs from Indonesian labels through Provence rosé to Valdobbiadene prosecco and Champagne, Island Brewing pours on draught — and spirit drinkers, note the house policy: a generous 45ml pour where the international standard is 30. Nisi does not do stingy.

Bring Everyone
This is a genuine all-comers house. The dedicated children's menu (little mezze chicken bites, creamy pasta nido, golden catch and chips, mini kofta burgers) plus the air conditioning make it the island's easiest family dinner. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes are marked right across the menu. Couples get the most romantic tables in the village. And nobody — nobody — should leave without dessert: golden waffles, silky tropical passion verrine, or the Nutella calzone, which requires no further description.

The Practical Bits
Nisi – House of Mediterranean is open daily from 7am until late in the heart of Jungut Batu village. The full menus are on the website at www.nisilembongan.co, where you can also reserve — recommended in peak season, especially for dinner. One practical note: Nisi is cashless, card or bank transfer only. Make an island evening of it: aperitivo over the water at Bar Riva, dinner at Nisi, then the bonfire at Sunsets on Fire — the village's new perfect night, in three short strolls. Welcome back, Nisi. The island missed you.
