A lot of guests never think about where their pool water comes from or what happens when the island's power flickers — and honestly, that's exactly how we like it. But since we get asked about it more often than you'd think (usually by guests who care about travelling responsibly), we thought it was worth pulling back the curtain a little.

Ohana's runs its own desalination system on site, which means the water filling our pools and running through your shower isn't drawn down from the island's limited groundwater supply — it's produced right here. When the island's power grid has one of its regular blackouts (a normal part of life on a small island like Lembongan), our generator keeps things running so your holiday doesn't skip a beat. And once water's been used, it doesn't just disappear — our onsite sewage treatment plant cleans it and recycles it as grey water for the gardens you see when you walk in.
